The Austin Choro Club is a community of musicians in Austin dedicated to playing the traditional music of Brazilian Choro. We host a monthly “roda” – an open, collaborative circle that brings together amateur and professional players. The focus is on learning, listening, and making music together in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
Our monthly Roda is held in the afternoon at Batch Craft Beer and Kolaches (3220 Manor, Austin, TX 78723) every 3rd Saturday of the month after a concert from 1:00-2:00 pm by our local choro band, Caros Amigos. The community roda will follow Caros Amigos’ set, and be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm
If you’d like to play along as a member of the Austin Choro Club you are more than welcome! Just come to Batch and join in with us. All ages and levels of musicianship are welcome – with basic music reading ability recommended.
Please sign up for our monthly, free newsletter (below) which includes two songs sent at the start of each month to learn and perform at the monthly roda. It will also include updates on choro club events and local Brazilian music happenings, resources, and Brazilian music history info.
